Buy handheld GPS; you may never get lost in woods again

Ever get lost in the woods? You'll never do it again with one of the many wonderful handheld GPS devices out there. GPS has become so common in so many cars, planes, trains, etc., that many take it for granted -- and perhaps you already have something to take camping with you.
If you don't yet have a handheld GPS, you really need to snatch one up from your friendly neighborhood electronics store, Big Box store, or from eBay.
Personal camping tale: Many years ago when I was a teenager (long before GPS, only shortly after the U.S. had launched its earliest satellites!), my 4-year-old brother and I were strolling through the woods together on a family camping trip.
Yes, we did get lost. Yes, I was doing my best not to panic with him perched on my shoulders and starting to sob (him, not me -- the sobbing that is). Fortunately, we were close to the campground where Mom and Dad and friends were. It took a little reflection and mental retracing my steps to get us back to the camping area, but it was early in the afternoon with plenty of daylight and the story had a happy ending.
Nowadays, with a good handheld GPS, I wouldn't have stressed out at all. (And my little brother wouldn't have dampened my head and shoulders with tears and other stuff.)
